    Can plaquenil cause vertigo

I have been on it since April 06, but have mainly only been taking 200 mg a day instead of the 400 mg that was prescribed. The first Rheumy I saw said he was leaning towards diagnosing me with lupus (based on labs and symptoms over last few years), and put me on it to see if it helped.

From 165lbs over a year ago to 121lbs today. I have to use the bathroom over thrice the rate of normal people. Almost anything I eat causes my stomach to gurgle and bubble and cause cramps and pain and I can use my hand to "massage" the cramps and pain around and physically move it. So damn bizarre. Just feels so damn helpless sometimes. Plaquenil and Dizziness - from FDA reports Summary Dizziness is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 60+ old, have been taking the drug for 1 month, also take medication Enbrel, and have Osteoporosis. I started on Plaquenil again. I stopped taking it the first time because my stomach hurt so bad. My rheumy said to just take a half a pill right now 100 mg. It's been about a week now and I am noticing dizziness, fatigue and just kind of weak. Can this be a side effect of Plaquenil when you first start? I don't recall it happening last time.

I finally decided to just start it, and wow did I notice a difference in how I felt.. I was having trouble holding back tears when I saw the Rheum. Even though I was miserable, and SO tired and sore every day, I was hesitant to start it, since I've always had a sensitive nervous system when it comes to medication (my mother is the same way).

I'd say yes it can. "Plaquenil Side Effects Most common are a mild nausea and occasional stomach cramps with a mild degree diarrhoea. In some cases headache or dizziness has also been reported. Noted side-effects also range from temporary blurring of the vision and a slightly increased sensivity to glare." SjS causes them for sure. Although they are uncommon, Plaquenil has side effects that may affect your eyes. Plaquenil and Your Eyes In some people, Plaquenil can cause a condition called hydroxychloroquine retinopathy, often referred to as bulls-eye maculopathy. I was on plaquenil 400mg for about 9 months when the dizziness started. Felt like being on merry go round and can't get off. At any rate, my rheumy switched from generic brand to brand necessary plaquenil. Something unstable about the generic brand. It's been a few months now and the brand necessary is working fine.
