Can plaquenil lower your calcium numbers

My husband has been taking Plaquenil (generic hydroxychloroquine) for almost 2 yrs., under a rheumatologist's care. He became very ill, and was diagnosed w/ viral meningial encephalitis. We were much later told that the Plaquenil had "lowered his tolerance to infection, as it is also an immuno-suppressant." In essence, the medicine allowed the viral infection to cross the barrier between his brain and blood/lungs.

(He was never told of that risk when he was put on the medication.) Added : What I failed to mention (above) is that he almost died in April when this happened. His/our question is as to whether he can or should EVER go back on the medication and risk exposure to further illnesses if it is true that Plaquenil or the generic for is, in fact, an immuno-suppressant and presents a serious health risk for him?

Take a statin if you have a coronary calcium score over 300. Your doctor may prescribe a statin, such as atorvastatin or pravastatin, to reduce your risk of a heart attack and manage your cholesterol levels. These are typically pills taken by mouth once or twice a day. Taking Plaquenil long-term or at high doses may cause irreversible damage to the retina of your eye. Stop taking Plaquenil and call your doctor at once if you have trouble focusing, if you see light streaks or flashes in your vision, or if you notice any swelling or color changes in your eyes. Basically, the immune system is a bit out of control. Plaquenil works by suppressing the immune system. Unfortunately you can't tell it to attack just the germs so you suppress all of its function to spare your healthy tissue- in your husband's case, his eyes, mouth, throat. NOTE Plaquinil and hydroxychloroquine are essentially the same drug.

Teaching the basics of autophagy and mitophagy to redox. However, if LC3-II levels are up in response to experimental conditions compared to controls, it can be due to increased conversion of LC3-I to LC3-II as in the case of starvation or inhibition of mTOR by rapamycin, or due to decreased clearance of LC3-II by the lysosomes. Chloroquine, bafilomycin, or ammonium chloride can change lysosomal pH.
