  1. Chloroquine ic50

Chloroquine is able to bind to DNA, and inhibit DNA replication and RNA synthesis which in turn results in cell death. The effect of Chloroquine may also be related to the formation of a toxic heme-Chloroquine complex.

BioAssay record AID 703715 submitted by ChEMBL Resistance ratio of IC50 for chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum K1 to IC50 for chloroquine-sensitive Plasmodium falciparum NF54. BioAssay Name. Potency index, ratio of ciprofloxacin IC50 to compound IC50 for chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum Dd2 infected in human erythrocytes. Chloroquine is an established antimalarial agent that has been recently tested in clinical trials for its anticancer activity. The favorable effect of chloroquine appears to be due to its ability to sensitize cancerous cells to chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and induce apoptosis.

Chloroquine possesses definite antirheumatic properties. Chloroquine has immuno-modulatory effects, suppressing the production/release of tumour necrosis factor and interleukin 6. Chloroquine inhibits trophozoite hemoglobin degradation through increasing vacuolar p H and inhibiting the activity of vacuolar phospholipase, vacuolar proteases, and heme polymerase.

The IC50 and IC90 of chloroquine against H1N1 are 3.6 μM and 9.9 μM, respectively, while those for H3N2 are 0.84 μM and 2.4 μM, respectively. Only a handful of drugs are able to inhibit influenza A virus replication and the increasing prevalence of resistance to these drugs demands newer classes of anti-influenza drugs. Chloroquine is a medication used to prevent and to treat malaria in areas where malaria is known to be sensitive to its effects. Certain types of malaria, resistant strains, and complicated cases typically require different or additional medication. It is also occasionally used for amebiasis that is occurring outside the intestines, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus erythematosus. It is taken by mouth. Common side effects include muscle problems, loss of appetite, diarrhea, and skin rash. Serious Jul 02, 2007 For chloroquine and mefloquine these concentrations are close to the IC 50 concentrations at both 5-HT 3 and nACh receptors. In summary, we have used a combination of electrophysiology, ligand binding, homology modelling and simulated docking to define the mechanisms by which quinine, chloroquine and mefloquine inhibit the 5-HT 3 receptor response.

Plaquenil and elevated liver enzymes? My ALT and AST have gone from low teens to mid 50s in 6 months. I know that is not really so high but she is concerned. She cut my pravastatin dose in half and said I need to talk to my rheum about the Plaquenil 400 mg a day. Does plaquenil affect liver enzymes? I hate to decrease - I feel it has helped me quite a bit.
