Hi, Plaquenil is amongst the first line of drugs in the management of Lichen Planopilaris LPP. It is an excellent drug in the condition and I have used it a lot over the years since it is used in many other skin diseases besides LPP as well. Lichen planus on the skin often clears up on its own in months to years. If the disease affects your mucous membranes, it tends to be more resistant to treatment and prone to recur. Whatever treatment you use, you'll need to visit your doctor for follow-up appointments about once a year. Dec 15, 2017 - Low dose naltrexone for Lichen planopilaris. Biopsy from an already scarred area of hair loss is unhelpful. However, it is not always possible to make a diagnosis on biopsy.

Lichen planopilaris LPP and its variant frontal fibrosing alopecia FFA are primary lymphocytic cicatricial alopecias for which there is no evidence-based therapy. Lichen planus is found among people who take Plaquenil, especially for people who are female, 50-59 old, have been taking the drug for 1 month, also take medication Enbrel, and have Immunodeficiency disorders Lichen Planopilaris Treatment Of all the alopecias, both non-scarring and scarring, lichen planopilaris is the most difficult to treat. There have been no well-controlled trials documenting the benefit of any therapy in LPP.

How does Plaquenil work? For me it did not start so quickly. You need to build a therapeutic level for any real benefit. Sometimes that is how Sjogren's works. Symptoms seem to disappear for a few days and reappear. Plaquenil eventually helped my joint pain. The continued fatigue and other symptoms are related to my mctd so I am not the perfect judge for this.
