Can you break plaquenil in half

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

SIDE EFFECTS. The following adverse reactions have been identified during post-approval use of PLAQUENIL or other 4-aminoqunoline compounds. Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure. When the physician looked inside, he saw both pink and peach tablets, some split in half. Initially, the patient had been taking a 20-mg tablet twice daily. When the physician lowered the dose to 10 mg twice daily, the new prescription was filled. Overall Plaquenil did take away the muscle and joint pain. It worked wonders for that. For that reason I am satisfied with plaquenil for what I took it for. Took about 5-6 months to see full effect. Since reducing the dose from 400mg to 200mg 4 months ago I do feel some of this pain returning You win some, you lose some! M 49 1 years 400mg day

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

  3. Most time-released, long-acting, and combination drugs shouldn’t be split because it’s difficult to make sure that you’ll get the proper amount of the active ingredient in each half.
